TTL33-A stars at the Foire de Douai

For the sixth consecutive year, French rental company, Polygone Equipement provided production support for the Foire de Douai at the Gayant Expo.
The 68th edition was held at the beginning of September, and inside Hall 3000 (at the Carré Brasserie) Polygone provided a premium RCF TTL-33A line array system for ten nights of performance — commencing with Italian legend, Umberto Tozzi.
Polygone Equipement has been using RCF solutions for 30 years and managing director Gérard Coucke has enjoyed a passionate relationship with the brand throughout that period. “We were RCF’s first pro partner for France back in 2006 — and probably the first in Europe — with our investment in TTL33-A line array and TTS28A subwoofers,” he states.
“In 2011, we added the big TTL55-A and TTS56-A — and are presently thinking about adding to this system.”
To cover a seated audience of 3,000 people at the Carré Brasserie, they fielded 20 flown TTL33-A in two clusters a side (with six elements front facing and four as side hangs). These were complemented by eight TTS28-A subwoofers and a further four TT08-A and TT052-A for front fills. Polygone also provided 14 TT25-SMA coaxial stage monitors and two compact ART905-AS subs as drum fills.
Polygone is certainly familiar with this venue, having worked previously in the largest, 13,000-capacity Hall 7000. For the Foire de Douai they provided sound engineering and system tech support for most of the concerts, the notable exception being Umberto Tozzi, who brought his own production crew. “The technical crew were pleasantly surprised to be working in France with a powerful and 100% Italian sound system,” recalls Mr. Coucke, who himself undertook the sound system design, in conjunction with his technicians.
TTL33-A is a very competitive system, compact, easy to set up and with the ability to provide perfect coverage for this type of event . TTL55-A also provides powerful long throw and can be intermixed with TTL33-A , as it is a complementary system,” he notes.
From a technical perspective the festival was a huge success, with other artists taking part including Julie Pietri, Herbert Leonard, Gilbert Montagné, Bernard Minet and Orchestra Kubiak.
