RCF audio equipment at the Elbenwald Music Festival and Fan Convention 2019

The Elbenwald Festival in Germany is a unique event. It combines the best from the world of conventions and festivals and is a meeting point for film fanatics, fantasy enthusiasts, gamers and music fans. For the time being, the Elbenwald Festival 2019 took place for the last time in the Event Park Luhmühlen before it moves to a new location next year.

To accurately convey an event with readings, meet & greets with stars, workshops, rock & pop concerts and symphony orchestras playing movie soundtracks, belongs undoubtedly to the more difficult tasks in the life of a technical service provider within the event industry.

German-based company PM Blue GmbH was responsible for the Elbenwald Festival and the A Summer's Tale Festival, which took place one week earlier at the same location, as a technical service provider for all matters relating to sound, light and video, and this in its sixth year. PM Blue relied on audio equipment from RCF throughout the event to cope with the challenging programme at the Elbenwald Festival.

The Elbenwald Festival relies on a mix of music, readings, film screenings, star meetings, games and workshops. One of the central locations during the four-day festival was a big tent where readings, concerts, meet & greets and workshops took place. With over 2.500 sqm the tent had a capacity of about 4.000 fans. The musical programme and the demands on the audio system could not be more different. The musical performances ranged from guitar-oriented performers like Malik Harris, German medieval rockers Schandmaul to a large symphony orchestra.

We have only received positive feedback on the sound from the FOH people and the artists alike.

To meet all these different requirements, PM Blue opted for a system consisting only of RCF components. On stage, 2x 10 HDL 50-A modules were installed hanging as the main array. 4x TT 22-A were placed as infill and outfill. In front of the stage, 12x SUB 9007 were located working in cardioid mode. How flexible and high-class in sound the RCF system is with all components working hand in hand was again demonstrated at the grand finale of the festival. The Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra played film music from classics such as Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter or Star Wars. Without a doubt, the RCF system also mastered this task perfectly.

Tobias Lange, Managing Director of PM Blue, was delighted: "We have only received positive feedback on the sound from the FOH people and the artists alike. It is difficult to make a symphonic orchestra sound particularly good in such a tent. But the HDL 50-A system and the other components from RCF combined with the RDNet control software, this is also a workable task."
